On EIVA’s first six months in our new office in Brazil

25 July 2018

Six months after establishing a permanent office in the Brazilian city of São Paulo, EIVA’s first in Latin America, we are pleased to report on early successes, new partners and a bright outlook for EIVA’s presence in the region.

Six months in EIVA's new office in Brazil

EIVA Business Development Manager for Brazil Antonio Felipe Silva said: ‘EIVA continues to invest in Latin America with a great focus in Brazil, where our dedicated business development team and recently expanded regional customer support personnel are highly active.’

Indeed since opening their office, the Brazil team has already brought on board a new maritime survey consultant, Maria Antônia Ribeiro, to deliver expert classroom training and other forms of support to local maritime customers and stakeholders.

Delivering solutions to meet market demand

A thriving maritime industry means that EIVA is far from short of new opportunities in the country. As Silva said: ‘Our goals for Brazil include increasing our market share in the shallow-water market sector, whilst at the same time continuing to work closely with the oil and gas deep-water segment.’

He continued: ‘Oil and gas actors are driving for efficiency and cost reduction, and we see that in this area the EIVA portfolio meets a diverse range of demands. For instance, our navigation and positioning product NaviPac Pro—which provides a streamlined workflow for subsea engineering and inspection operations—is proving especially popular.’

Silva added: ‘Another product in significant demand is NaviSuite Beka for rig transport operations, where onshore monitoring and support can be provided via EIVA Helmsman’s Display solution.’

Particularly strong demand for EIVA NaviSuite software comes from stakeholders of oil and gas deep-water applications looking for life-of-field management solutions that can help ensure subsea assets are fit for purpose.

Silva explained: ‘We have several products that can enhance late life-of-field management, including NaviSuite QC Toolbox and NaviSuite Nardoa [EIVA’s advanced 3D pipeline and cable route inspection software package]. Gaining quite some attention at the moment are ROV/AUV surveys using NaviSuite Deep Learning—our cutting-edge AI solution that enables greater accuracy on detecting events of importance (ie eventing) and thereby improves the life of pipeline assets.’

Involvement with Brazil’s Technological Institute of Aeronautics

As an example of EIVA’s engagement with the Brazilian deep-water sector, Silva recently presented at the conference ‘Oil & Gas: Challenges in Deep Water Production’, which was hosted by Brazil’s Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA).

Remarking on the event Silva said: ‘Oil and gas deep-water challenges bring new demands for research and development of state-of-the-art solutions that are especially vital to support the on-going expansion of the sector. Responding to this, EIVA Brazil will be working closely with ITA on new technological projects related to subsea pipeline inspections.’

Contributing to the programme, Silva presented on EIVA software NaviSuite Nardoa and NaviSuite Beka (our rig move and anchor handling software), alongside other NaviSuite capabilities.

Supporting local academia

Certainly these last six months in Brazil have been a time for networking, and we are pleased to report that work building foundations for future collaborations is already hinting at some exciting new partnerships to come.

Related to this, a key part of EIVA’s outreach has involved supporting local academic institutions—for instance with Academic Licences granting use of EIVA NaviSuite without charge being provided to the Institute of Oceanography of University of São Paulo (IOUSP), the University of Maranhão State (UFMA), Itajaí Valley University (UNIVALI) and the Fluminense Federal University (UFF).

Our provision of such licences is motivated by an ambition to contribute to the training of the future maritime industry workforce, but it also brings us into contact with key maritime survey stakeholders in the region.

Looking forward

EIVA Director of Marketing & Sales Anne Juul Andreasen commented: ‘EIVA are only just getting started in Brazil and the greater surrounding Latin America region, but we are nevertheless gaining momentum, and we are highly confident about a bright future ahead of us there founded upon vibrant markets exhibiting strong demand for solutions of the type that EIVA can provide.’

‘In response to developments and outlook from our São Paulo office, we are already looking towards expanding the EIVA sales channel setup in Latin America even further, and we look forward to sharing news about this development in the future.’

We would highlight to interested readers that the public event EIVA Days Brazil 2018 will take place later this year—promising a great opportunity to meet EIVA in person, and to see and learn what we can do for you and your business.
