Robust and advanced design and sensors characterise the ToughBoy Panchax wave buoy

From harbour monitoring, subsea engineering pre-surveys to wave energy studies and any type of wave and current measurement surveys in between, the ToughBoy Panchax is the optimum choice.

The ToughBoy Panchax comes equipped with a thoroughly-tested, advanced wave sensor which provides high-precision wave data, as well as a state-of-the-art, integrated 600 kHz ADCP. It is also possible to rent the ToughBoy Panchax 1.2 fitted with a 1200 kHz ADCP or without an ADCP.

Thanks to its robust design, there is a reduced risk of losing the wave buoy or its data. In addition, it is easily handled and requires minimal servicing.

Please note: This product is subject to export control, which may delay/hinder delivery to some countries, and may be subject to restrictions if re-exported.

Buoy design with a pool of benefits

Robust and advanced design and sensors characterise the ToughBoy Panchax data buoy

The state-of-the-art, integrated ADCP (comes standard in three of the models) and thoroughly-tested, advanced wave sensor provide high-precision wave and current data – the settings and transmission are adjusted according to your needs, keeping communications expenditures at a minimum as well.

    No complications

The ToughBoy Panchax is designed to eliminate complications such as losing the acquired data or the data buoy itself, or having to deal with extensive and costly service procedures on a regular basis.

Advanced mooring technology, built-in buoyancy material and an alarm function triggered if the data collection buoy should move beyond a predefined guard zone offer a vastly reduced risk of the buoy suffering damages or being lost.

The data buoy is easily handled, it needs no support to stand when it is not in the water, and the battery assembly is designed to ensure that the service crew is not exposed to the risk of gas explosion. Altogether, this adds up to a safer work-environment.

    Easily serviced on site

Service costs are cut to a minimum, due both to the long time interval between each service inspection and the low number of man-hours required.

The ToughBoy Panchax data collection buoy is designed for uncomplicated, offshore servicing with a minimum of tools, all of which are standard equipment on a vessel and do not require a specially trained offshore crew.

The data buoy's batteries are easily removed with an A-frame or a small crane. The buoy components do not require calibration, none of the mooring parts require servicing, and because the USB drives are wet-mateable the electronics are always protected from water when at sea.

Cut the budget normally dedicated to inspections by at least 50%

The electronics of the ToughBoy Panchax data buoy offer low power consumption

This, together with a battery based on intelligent charging technology, ensures year-long battery life and thus long intervals between service inspections of the data buoy – 12 months or more.

This will cut the budget that is normally dedicated to inspections by at least 50%.

Simple and secure buoy data transmission and storage

ToughBoy Onshore, the web-based software solution of the ToughBoy Panchax data buoy, allows for remote configuration and monitoring. This simplifies data transmission.

In other words, you’ll have the buoy data you need instantly, and you’ll be able to adjust settings as desired.

The acquired buoy data is transmitted to you, to EIVA servers as a backup option and to USB drives on the data collection buoy for on-site retrieval. This virtually eliminates the risk of data loss.

The ToughBoy Panchax allows for various data transmission options

    Perfect match for your requirements

The ToughBoy Panchax data buoy offers different transmission types (GSM/3G/HSDPA/GPRS, Iridium, UHF). This translates into high deployment flexibility of the buoy and savings in terms of communications, as the data buoy can be configured to the optimum communications choice for a given offshore deployment scenario.

Moreover, you choose the data transmission settings and format. Thereby, you're ensured that you get the right data when you need it – matching your needs 100%
