By integrating pre-survey multi-beam echo sounder data, GPS and excavator/crane sensor data in the software, NaviSuite Uca offers real-time navigation and 3D visualisation of the excavator/crane body, boom, stick and bucket position relative to the seabed, whether you use a clamshell, wire crane or a third option
This, together with a fully customisable view of a pre-survey image of the seabed and target profile, provides the operator with a constant overview of the dredging operation progress that combines all relevant information in a single view, easing the process of monitoring the dredging operation.
The DTM (digital terrain model) is instantly updated on the dredging operator's screen as the operation progresses, which for example makes it easy to plan sediment removal. When the bucket is above the water surface, the software will mark its position on the DTM, helping the operator choose where to break the surface in order to reach the intended spot on the seabed.Additionally, the automatic dredging volume calculation decreases the time spent on monitoring your operations.
In other words, you’re constantly ensured that the bucket goes where intended. -
For both small and large dredging operations
Even if several excavators or cranes are involved, NaviSuite Uca allows you to combine the visualisation of their progress in a single view.
For both small and large dredging operations
There are no limitations in the software as to the size of the 3D model of the seabed. Even if several excavators or cranes are involved in the dredging operation, NaviSuite Uca allows you to combine the visualisation of their progress in a single view, using the same 3D model for all units – integrated with sensor data in the software.
It is in general easy for you to track the progress of your operations with the features offered by NaviSuite Uca. For example, the volume calculation and terrain comparison tools will let you create reports much faster. Throughout the dredging operation, you can compare the dredged surface with your target model. This makes it easy to see when project milestones are reached, and minimises the risk of over-dredge.Also, the possibility of analysing project progress though customised colour coding of the updated DTM will ensure that you meet dredging milestones as accurately as possible.
As an optional extra feature, NaviSuite Uca can be paired up with a multi-beam echo sounder or sidescan sonar for digital 3D terrain modelling of the seabed during the operation as opposed to having to wait for a post-dredging survey.
The NaviSuite Uca software is designed to integrate with multiple types of dredgers and applications, including backhoe excavators, wire cranes, suction pumps, cutter suction dredgers, rock saws, etc. This makes NaviSuite Uca well-suited for pond- and lake dredging as well as harbour dredging, just to mention some of the possible applications. Consequently, you can use the same dredging software for all your operations, which will save you the cost of investing in different licences and training for each of these. -
Looking for an all-in-one dredging solution?
The NaviSuite Uca dredging software comes with a number of optional extras, both in terms of software and hardware, including sensors.

General visualisation tools
Perform advanced data interpretation with powerful and easy-to-use tools for visualising models in 2D, 3D, side view or by time.
General visualisation features
Take a peek at NaviSuite’s powerful visualisation features – data can be visualised in 2D, 3D, side view or by time.
3D seabed terrain
Visualise seabed terrain in the powerful 3D environment of NaviSuite, which provides many easy-to-use tools to effectively display data of interest. You can model the seabed terrain in colour modes representing information of the data modelled such as depth, slope, intensity, backscatter, standard deviation and ETC. These different colour modes can be displayed alongside each other in different views of your model, as well as with added contour lines (see an example in the video below).
Smoothly navigate survey results in NaviSuite’s high-performing 3D environment. NaviSuite uses a highly effective LOD method for visualising models, allowing the software to ensure optimal data presentation by making the most of your graphics card.
Multiple Map Views
You can display different views simultaneously, so you can keep track of different information visually. Map Views can for example be a map showing your location, 3D visualisations viewed from different angles and visualisations of data from different sensors. Each individual Map View window can be configured separately, so you can make a Map View displaying virtually any information you require.
Background Maps
You can import existing third-party maps for example for line planning, navigation and procession quality control. Maps which can be displayed in NaviSuite include background maps from Web Map Service (WMS), geocoded images (for example geotiff), CAD drawings (for example DXF or DWG) and MicroStation drawings.
Import 3D models
3D models can be imported into NaviSuite (drag and drop into the Map View window) and displayed in this high-performance solution. This means that you can add 3D models of permanent structures on the seabed, such as foundations for offshore wind turbines, as well as templates for structures yet to be built. Not only that, NaviSuite also allows you to use a 3D model to display a dynamically positioned object, such as your vessel.
Link a 3D models to the vessel
Ensure quality control by getting a better view of the true scale of your model. NaviSuite allows the operator to attach real 3D models of vessels and vehicles to the 3D seabed display. The models can for example be in 3DS, STEP and OBJ mesh formats.
2D, 3D and side-view displays
NaviSuite facilitates better data interpretation by making it easy for the user to quickly change the view displayed. Display options are 2D, 3D and side-view, as shown in the tool bar. Orientation can be user-defined, north up, vehicle up or line up.
Visibility Slider
The visibility slider allows users to compare different DTMs quickly. This enables comparison over time or between different data processing methods, in 2D and 3D.
Control colours, lights and details
Effectively visualise information of interest by adjusting the light and palette settings on your DTM at any time. You can for example adjust brightness and shade settings, as well as use a variety of colour palettes, from grey scale to rainbow. Get a peek at the options in the following video.

Live subsea construction
NaviSuite can serve as a configurable and integrated software solution for dredging, excavation, exclamation and similar – supporting bucket, clamshell and suction dredgers.
Live subsea construction features
NaviSuite Uca is a configurable and integrated software solution for dredging, excavation, exclamation and similar – supporting bucket, clamshell and suction dredgers.
Material removal from DTM (dredging) - bucket/clamshell
NaviSuite Uca supports several solutions for boom/stick excavation using both bucket and clamshell. The solution can e.g. be based on Trimble, eTrack or custom sensors for positioning each moving component.
Material removal from DTM (dredging) - wire clamshell
NaviSuite Uca supports various wirecrane solutions (e.g. Henngstler, Trimble and Liebherr) for excavation. DataMon interfaces the cable counters and will, in a calibrated manner, use the information to position clamshell and opening angle of the clam.
Material addition to DTM (rock placement)
NaviSuite Uca supports rock and material placement for both bucket and clamshell solutions. The system uses semi-automatic methods, as the operator presses a button and uses a foot-pedal to mark where material is placed. Uca will then add the corresponding material to the model based on a cone figure.
Reporting
During an operation, NaviSuite Uca gives fast and reliable reports on the progress based on both live colour coding of the terrain and volume reporting. The result can be brought into NaviModel to make a final report project and use this as documentation and handout, as illustrated here where the entire operation was performed in one process without any second passes.
